Complementary medicine or alternative medicine as commonly called .

Includes a range of treatments that are not part of the system of treatments known in traditional medicine. Most of the treatments that come from Asia . Countries like China and India, Although over the years they have developed new therapies in the West as well. Alternative medicine integrates in its therapeutic methods medicinal herbs, touch and others. It is a term that describes medical treatments that are used instead of traditional (mainstream) therapies. Some people also refer to it as “integrative,” or “complementary”medicine. Alternative therapies or diagnoses are not part of medicine or science-based health care systems, and includes treatments that are not part of mainstream medicine .

Alternative medicine consists of a wide variety of practices, products, and therapies—ranging from those that are biologically plausible but not well tested, to those with known harmful and toxic effects.
