Bloody diarrhea is a widespread disease among children, especially between spring and autumn season by infection with E.coliO157:H7
Symptoms:
Symptoms of infection with E.coliO157:H7 include fever, severe diarrhea usually combined with blood, irritation and hemolytic uremic syndrome that leads to kidney failure followed by a blood clot, and heart attacks that can cause death.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis of bloody diarrhea done for detection of E.coliO157:H7 is by stool examination, stool culture test, and serological testes.
Treatment:
The best antibiotics used for treatment of E.coli O157:H7 were imipenem and meropenem.
We should avoid treatment with beta-lactam antibiotic group because E.coli O157:H7 produces an enzyme called beta-lactamase that can break the beta lactam ring in the antibiotics, so it becomes ineffective, and then the bacteria become resistant to the antibiotic.
